A Bolivian-registered Ocean Line 208 marine vessel that was on the way from Teluk Ramunia Offshore to Pengerang was overturned by a huge wave at 0420 Malaysian time this morning.
Reports claim that the dredging vessel sank about 8.6 nautical miles off Timur Tanjung Punggai.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) is currently carrying out a Search and Rescue operation to retrieve all 15 crew members, consisting of 14 Chinese Nationals and 1 Malaysian. One of the crew was picked up by a nearby boat but the whereabouts of the remaining fourteen remain unknown.
Assets known to be involved in the rescue operation are 3 Boote, a ship and an aircraft by MMEA.
